Tomorrow, I will be delivering the commencement address at Grinnell College. I’m going to tell the women to give up their dreams of a career to become reproductive vessels, and also emphasize that we Jews killed Christ, but subtly. Sort of a carrot and stick thing. I hear that’s popular.

By the way, I made this joke the other night to a woman who had not, in fact, heard of the viral video of Mr Butker’s commencement speech. Awkward!

This is interesting. Mr Butker gave the commencement speech last year at his own alma mater, and was much more moderate. Instead of “women, up your careers to have babies” it was “nothing will give you as much joy as your family.” Etc. www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-c...

I mean whoever said this was probably pretty upset by Mr Butker’s speech this year.

My guess would be a combination of the 3 previous suggestions - He thought the venue would be more receptive, he's feeling championship untouchable and he's annoyed by Taylor Swift's existence, not to mention her proximity.

I think the venue made the difference. His views on women are pretty uncontroversial in certain strains of Christianity, and my guess is he's held those beliefs for a long time.
