This kind of Generative AI mode, called "Retrieval Augmented Generation" where AI scans and summarizes known good sources for answers to questions is more reliably accurate than ChatGPT and it will be VERY attractive to students, who already are in the habit to typing questions into Google (1/2)

The problem with this emerging pattern, for educators, is NOT hallucination, it's the expectation that "questions" have simple "answers" which are reliably generated by machine. If we want students to think critically about how knowledge is constructed this fights us.
