Uggghhh. I am so sorry. Have you seen if your pharmacy has GoodRx or an in-house discount? That is the only way we get through when insurance is bloody insane. *hugs*
*sigh* I am so so so sorry, David. I keep forgetting it’s the Fourth. I nearly sent Matt to the kids’ new school for registration packets AND I nearly checked the mail. Oy vey.
Going through their prescription coverage is bloody *weird*. One med which I would've expected to be exorbitant is only $10. I don't get their logic of what they cover and what they don't.
GoodRx is a great resource. Even if they don't have a discount, they can show you prices at various pharmacies, which can be 4x different, I've found.
Another good thing is to google name of drug plus "copayment assistance program". Many expensive drugs have those to defray costs.
Sometimes they're available for anyone (eg, one of my gut medications is retail ~$1100 / month, but there's a copayment assistance program open to anyone that turns it into $30 / month). Other times they might be income-restricted, but that can still be something like up to 5x FPL.
*jaw drops*
(I can't even WTF? at this.)
I'm hoping there some good support and helpful advice coming your way. (Alas, none from me: Belgian medical people by and large have treated me like a grown-up.)
