Just rewatched AUSTIN POWERS. We are three years away from being as removed from that movie (30 years) as Austin was from his own time.
Shocking how much of that movie I still know by heart.
Vanessa Kensington walks on screen and I hear Jack Donaghy say "Liz Hurley, *in the 90s*" in my head

I genuinely think a version of this with an unfrozen 90s Action Guy could work.
Today is the day Austin Powers travelled to the future in a Delorean
Every once in a while, I imagine of my kids finding that movie and being utterly perplexed to learn how popular it was.
Absolute cultural dominance with vocabulary-warping powers. And that was the SECOND set of characters Mike Myers did that with in the 90s!
At his age now, I’ll just point out which famous person voiced which animated character. When he finds AP, I look forward to saying, “And that Fat Bastard is also Shrek!”

Actually it might be AI. Plasticity allows us to maintain a facade of conformity with the past even while the underlying is changing fast. Up to a point. Cf. “Baldwin Effect”
