I once caught myself in the eyelid with a bass popper when I carelessly removed my sunglasses because it was getting close to dusk. Thank goodness I blinked.
It was less horrific than it sounds. Not that painful and I was able to get it out cleanly without any damage. When I got home, I told my wife I'd caught a 200+ pound fish. But now I never, ever fish without glasses
