I just got an email from my local greyhound rescue that Caliente, the dog track at Tijuana, is closing. If you're in southern California and thought about a retired racer this might be a great time to reach out to an adoption group. Retired track dogs make awesome pets.
If you are in the LA area, those rescues would be greysave or fast friends. Almost anywhere in the world you can go to greyhoundpets.org to see the group near you
It's nerve wracking but usually they identify a couple of things to change and you update you changed them. It's not about being perfect, it's about showing them you will manage the dog in the house
I had one stop by the Nature Center last weekend. Sweet dog. Seemed interested in all the displays. Had a good conversation. I vaguely remember there were two women with the dog.
They are wonderful to live with and many even do a little chittering noise when excited or pleased. It can be very charming. The ones I have spent time with were usually not barky, either.
