I've told her story a couple times before (not reposting the photos bc they're frankly upsetting), but when Betty was first found on the road outside Jackson, she was nearly dead. It took months of care before she was healthy enough to be adopted, and I didn't pay for any of it.

ABTCR paid to have her nursed back to life, placed her with an experienced foster family to recuperate, and passed precisely zero of those costs on to me. All I had to fork over was an adoption fee, most of which went to cover spaying & getting her up to date on shots.

And in exchange, I got a new best friend #hiBetty

So when you see me hollering about this or that dog and asking for money for the rescue society, understand that what I'm doing is trying to give back, in return, a tiny fraction of what I've been given.
