"Lugia wasn't even supposed to be in Gen 2" and yet it's still cooler than everything else around it Hmmmm

I'll also just readily admit every time I hear "but the new ones are relevant to the Plot" I roll my eyes hard because Ah yes the riveting Plot of a Pokemon game Environmental storytelling in these titles is far better imo

Also, for as much as I adore Koraidon It and Miraidon aren’t really “legendaries” or at least they don’t feel like it. They’re just paradox forms of a common pokemon (Cyclizar). The likes of Lugia and Ho-Oh have actual legends around them, haha

I find I just have stronger opinions about newer Pokemon in general. Maybe just cause I was born the year red and blue came out so I grew up with the early generations, and they're just passively a part of my awareness.

I kinda feel ya, I'm a Yellow version person myself. I still like Sun and Moon, Sword and Shield, Legends. The newest one just don't have as much of that exploratory sensibility, despite being open world. I get bits of that, but a lot of it feels hollow

For me the games peaked on the DS and any 3D mainline game is very much not worth playing, but I was strictly talking in terms of visual designs of the Pokemon themselves

I love them honestly, and I'm not a huge S and V fan. Sometimes it is neat to have the big mon of the region, or at least on the box, have a more direct relationship with the player. It's just weird that the only way that can be is "in service of the bog standard story"

They have more of a legendary feel to them than the "legendary birds" who are just Big.

Gotta disagree there, feels like the 5 birds have a lot of setup, ESPECIALLY the Johto birds. They both get their own dungeons and plenty of NPC dialogue.
