Movies written off for taxes should be given freely to the public via the Library or Congress or something

I mean, they're getting a tax break. We (collectively) ARE paying for it, we should at least get the goods.

Same for “Batgirl.”

Came here to say this. Keaton Batman is my godgiven right.

Whoever does would be a national hero. They should also leak Batgirl.

They should pass a tax law to disincentives and punish company for this waste to avoid taxes

"Leak the movie, get fired for it, start a GoFundMe" would basically be a get-rich-quick scheme

Someone involved with the production must be able to sue for lost residuals or royalties musn’t they? It wouldn’t be that hard to prove lost income to a judge or arbitrator.

all I'm saying is that if it's shelved for tax reasons, it's public domain 'cos everyone's taxes bought the film

There's been phishing for a while. Lately we're most afraid of spear phishing. Now we need a term for someone who is strutting alluringly waiting to be spear phished, hopefully someone with access to the vaults where the movie's been relegated to.

If it can happen to the new SpongeBob movie, it MUST happen to this movie.

If they make more money writing off a movie than they do selling it, our tax laws are upside down and need major reform.

This makes absolutely no sense. The money they spent on making the movie is already gone. What they are saying here is that they will make more money writing it off on their taxes then they will make selling it to the public.

Warner Bros is a publicly traded company. They should be required to state how much they will save by writing off this movie, and then Disney and everybody else should be given the opportunity to buy it for that much.
Avatar
If you get a tax write off for scraping a completed movie it should be required to be released into the public domain.

I want to see this movie so badly, I don't think the studio has a clue. I can easily see this movie making +200 million in Box Office and bunch of more in streaming.
