I have a pinched nerve in my lower back, which explains why my Joint Session trip was so miserable and difficult. I now have some serious painkillers for it, and doctor seems to think it'll get better over the next couple of weeks if I'm careful.

My cancelled train got uncancelled, but is only going as far as Preston, which is closer to Birmingham than Edinburgh. Train company seems to have adopted a vibes-based approach to getting us home from there.

Being an academic philosopher means occasional emails from cranks about the meaning of life, or a conspiracy theory about telepathic domination by philosophers of mind (yes, really). Today, it’s a 4500 word email from some weirdo about god & his book about everything. The TOC is really something.

Last day of 2024 Joint Session. Still unclear how I’m going to get home later. Next year is in Glasgow thankfully, and the line-up looks great.

My train home tomorrow has already been cancelled. That bodes well.

Today is brought to you by Deep Heat™️ spray, which somehow took me from agony and despair to being able to function and get around enough to make it to talks this morning. I get very mixed results from it in general, but this morning it worked miracles.

100s of words about character and morals but only vague, brief reference to fact that Trump is adjudicated sexual assailant - rapist, in lay terms - w/ other credible allegations & settlements of sex crimes. The mostly male punditry, like GOP, has collectively decided that rape isn't disqualifying.
