The default Bluesky settings are kind of bad? Here's my advice for making it better. In the Settings, go to Home Feed Preferences: Reply Filters and turn on "Followed Users Only" to mimic old Twitter behavior, only showing replies in your home feed when you follow both people.

Oh, excellent, that followed users only reply feature wasn't there last time I tweaked my settings, that's exactly what I want!

I like finding fresh follows by seeing what my own follows are into, but I consider "Threaded mode" under Thread Preferences to be a necessity!

For what it's worth, the reply default is actually old OLD Twitter default. It was some time in when they decided to exclude replies from the timeline. I enjoy it because I get to be a buttinsky, and also it's interesting to me that people tend to use a different voice in replies vs. new posts.
