Excited to on a new paper looking at what makes for a successful transmission project. We took a database of over 1,300 transmission projects over the past 20 years and ran it through a machine learning algorithm to see what factors made success more or less likely. #energysky t.co/FveUt55jWG

FERC IS A UTILITY REGULATOR AND THE WORD 'UTILITY' DID NOT COME UP IN A 2 HOUR HEARING ABOUT NEW FERC COMMISSIONERS
Watching the Senate hearing about FERC nominees and FERC's monthly meeting...Will let post here anything I deem interesting and noteworthy:

This is giving me thoughts. On the one hand, it sounds like it gives utilities discriminatory access to transmission capacity. On the other hand, maybe it would help more things get built? Unless the utilities gamed it, which they probably would... Would FERC even let this idea fly? #EnergySky 🔌💡

I just posted a long thread on another platform summarizing numerous FERC complaints about utilities blocking clean energy. The complaints, filed by developers, allege anti-competitive interconnection and planning processes, rate structures, and more.

I swear, if I read one more report about transmission development that does not include the word utilities, well then I'm just going to have keep talking about them.

In startling news, FERC admin law judge is sick of acronyms and sets “no acronym” rule for case filings … “When reading large amounts of material, acronyms slow most readers down and they interrupt flow and comprehension,” ALJ says. Members of the FERC community are either aghast or delirious.
