Over in New York, George Latimer leads progressive Rep. Jamaal Bowman 54–46% with 29% of the estimated vote counted in the #NY16 Democratic primary. This was the most expensive congressional primary in history with $20M+ spent.
Does money win elections like this? I feel like we’ve seen that even campaigns that spend the most money aren’t always successful. Hillary Clinton in 2016 is a great example of that.
If money was all it took to win elections, Michael Bloomberg would be coasting towards a second term in the White House.
That being said, it sure doesn't hurt.
Let's not confuse the outcome of the 2016 electoral college results versus the popular vote determining this 2024 race, it's not a direct comparison.

It depends. This particular election had some high salience issues and earned media, which in and of itself can activate voters and increase turnout, which might have made the money spend less important, although the fact that so much money was spent also ended up "buying" earned media in a sense.
