Parents whose kids go to sleepaway summer camp, how far in advance do you sign them up?
Mine is interested in going next summer for the first time and I'm wondering when I need to start thinking about it

But seriously, think about it like soon. A great idea is to see if any of the camps you’re considering have visitors days, or one or two night programs (lots do, even the YMCA camp we sent our kids to), so you and the kid can check out the vibe and the kid won’t be air-dropped in
August. We signed our 8yo up in August for the week she just completed as a brand-new camper. And TBH, we will probably be signing her up in the next few days for next year to guarantee her spot.
