Finally hit the Barnes and Noble Criterion summer sale, still need to find a few titles but I was pleasantly surprised what was in stock. First time in a long time that the B&N dvd section hadn’t shrunk since previous visit.

Good mail day from Vinegar Syndrome’s recent sale. All unseen by me (although I’m pretty sure I fast forwarded through DANGEROUS GAME as a kid looking for Madonna nudity). I think my 4K UHD of BAD LIEUTENANT is still arriving today too, so it’s a double dose of Ferrara/Keitel.

Really strong score at the thrift store today. First pressings of Television MARQUEE MOON, Love FOREVER CHANGES and nearly complete works of Bill Nelson and Be-Bop Deluxe (mostly UK pressings). Ended up with 42 records in my stack. Someone cool cleaned out their garage.

Good mail day. The first of these Paramount Presents titles I’ve picked up and I’m not crazy about the cover art or the gatefold slipcover but I’m happy that there’s still a studio putting in the effort to restore and release catalog titles in 4K instead of relying on the boutiques to handle it.

Where’d I get it: A thrift store for $1 Why’d I get it: Sonny Rollins on Impulse! NM and only a buck. On Spotify: Yes How many plays: 2 Verdict: Never seen ALFIE. Didn’t know Rollins did the score until I found this record. This is a nearly great, standalone jazz record. 8/10 Keep or sell: Keep

Where’d I get it: A garage sale. Why’d I get it: Bowie album I’ve never heard in NM condition. On Spotify: Yes, minus track “Too Dizzy” How many plays: 1.5 Verdict: I’ve always heard it’s bad and it is. Production is chaotic and gross. Title track is almost worthwhile. 4/10 Keep or sell: Sell
