The Apolinar's Wren is a small wren endemic to the Andes of central Colombia. Small and chunky, overall pale brown bird w some barring. Locally known as "Chirriador"(“creaker" in English) due to its song, which sounds like a creaky wagon wheel. birdsoftheworld.org/bow/species/...

Meet the Eurasian Nutcracker! This bird has adaptations for feeding on pine cones (not as obvious as in crossbills). It pries up seeds with a tongue that has a flat, forked, hard keratinized tip, a 'lingual nail'. Read more about this species in its life-history account: bit.ly/3t40hcn
