Like many comic artists I had a hard time understanding backgrounds. They tend not to be stylized in the same way characters are. For me, it clicked it into place while revisiting Canada's classic landscape painters, the Group of 7. Their simplification of forms showed me the way. (Happy Canada Day)

I think his work is so fantastically 'simplified' it tips over into maximalism. Its so courageously extreme. Love it!
For those who don’t know me I’m an artist + animator from the UK. My nft practise has mainly been a sequence of drawn islands.
Began during lockdown, they’ve become a method to explore environmental + esoteric themes, a balm at times, something like meditation or escape through a repeated motif 🖍🪨✨
