Fox did not choose the camera angle, CONMEBOL did. The broadcast video of this tournament is provided to Fox by the association, same as UEFA the Euros and FIFA the World Cup, and so on. The Univision broadcast looks exactly the same.
I'm imagining the Fox Sports pregame meetings where they were sitting around wondering how they could make this game worse. "Let's ensure nobody can read the player numbers by using a camera angle that is absolute ass" #USMNT

Either way this camera angle is an insult to the audience.

Funny, but a little too self-flagellating. Good on you.

It really seems like CONEMBOL has done as much as possible to make this miserable for the US team

I enjoy blaming CONCACAF. They didn't have the juice, good sense, and/or money to get a dedicated North American TV feed for a tournament being played in a member county at an NFL stadium. Pathetic.
Even so, Fox needed to fight for a proper camera angle in their most important game of the tournament. Allowing this garbage on their airwaves is unacceptable.

Well in that case it sucks.
