I've a long look at the stats that is still a work in progress. The new revelations have provided extra information but it was already clear that Chinese works, and the votes of Chinese members were disadvantaged by highly unusual data at the nomination stage
I also just want to emphasize how much Chinese fans were screwed over by this whole process, and how all the evidence available so far suggests that the censorship was coming from inside the house, that is, from the Western administrators and staff. /1
Chinese fans were sidelined repeatedly by the Chengdu committee who valued business interests above fans. They were screwed over in the Hugo Awards. There are credible reports of the VENUE making people ill and their chance to put Chinese sci-fi fandom on the world stage is now mired in scandal
I'd add - if people are looking to nominate work and people for the 2024 Hugos consider fans from China. Look to the 2023 fan categories & some of the Chinese fans who are doing amazing things. We, in the collective sense, (McCarty in the individual sense) did badly by Chinese fans.
