Now Biden has Covid and my only thought is that the season finale of this show has way too many plot twists. Please we are exhausted and can barely follow along.

Millennials - someone please explain to GenX me what is going on with weddings? I saw a post complaining about a bride who told guests to wear pastel blue/yellow/pink. I assumed comments would agree with the poster, but most of them were pro bride. Since when does a bride dictate what GUESTS wear??

I'm always sad when I hear of a movie theater being closed down. Let's keep movie theaters around as a thing that we have! I saw the movie THELMA in a theater last night and laughed throughout. It was sweet and funny and true to life on lots of levels. Pick a movie you want to see and go!

The worst part of the debate was not Joe Biden acting like the old man that he is, or Trump acting like the malignant narcissist that he is. It was the fact that they gave Trump a national platform and just let him spew conspiracy theories and lies for over an hour with no comment and no follow up.

Turned on the presidential debate and I’m sincerely regretting it.

Aside from all the separation of church and state issues, I'm just wondering how kindergarten teachers in Louisiana are going to explain to their students what it means to "commit adultery." 🤔

Dropped my son to take the train into Boston for the Celtics Parade and meet up with friends "at the Hynes Convention Center." Nothing more specific than that. Surely it's not that big? Surely it won't be crowded? 🙄

The problem isn't that AI can do your job (it can't). The problem is management thinks AI can do your job.

The NYT laying off half it’s art dept as they ramp up the use of A.I. tools is 100% related to UArts closing due to a “steep drop in enrollment.” Regardless of A.I.’s actual capabilities the story being told to (and accepted by) business leaders is damaging the perceived value of the visual arts.

What are your favorite recent RHYMING picture books? I'm putting together a resource list for a class this summer and would love to add some new ones.

Does anyone else think that AI is really just not going to be all that good? I am un-wowed by what I’ve seen so far.

I stopped into a hipster coffee bar and ordered a cup of brewed coffee. When I added cream, it instantly curdled. Brought it back and was told nothing was wrong - just that today’s brew was very acidic. 😳 Ummm - no thanks! I politely asked for any type of non-cream curdling coffee.

Apparently we are not allowed to purchase shirts that actually cover our bellies any more. Only crop tops, ladies. 😑

The architectural style of most new houses in my town seems to be "here's a garage with a house tacked onto the back of it" and I can only imagine that the cars are very pleased.

I always find it amusing (bemusing?) when "influencers" describe book royalties as passive income. It can take me literally hundreds of hours to bring a manuscript to completion - and I write picture books. It's too depressing to calculate my hourly rate but I wouldn't exactly call this easy money.

Like many, I’m mourning Katey today. She was a lovely person, and writer.

💔Mourning the loss of a friend today. We, in the kidlit community, know what a generous spirit Katey Howes had. She will be missed by many, but most of all by her family. My heart goes out to her family for this devastating loss. May you be comforted by all the happy memories.

Watched a movie with my 15yo that was set in the 1980s. There was a scene where the teacher walked around the room and handed back tests that had been graded, with a comment to each student. 15yo was APPALLED. “So everyone would just know your grade??” Yes, my sweet GenZ child. Yes.
