Watching Gundam Wing all the way through (subbed) instead of Sporadically On Toonami As a Kid. Thoughts:
1) Wow, Heero and Relena are a lot better when they have voice mods beyond Monotone and Monotone Loud. Oh, Ocean Dubs.
2) this kinda slaps
I always felt that the backlash against Wing amid Gundam Fanboys was largely fueled by misogyny (oh no it has stuff aimed at female fans) + homophobia (oh no pretty boys and m/m subtext, definitely not something UC Gundam has in spades) so I felt defensive of it by reflex lol
But I remember finding it kind of...dry? I mean, I liked Quatre a lot. But two episodes in at least, this one has a fun 'action movie/spy thriller' energy with a cast of operatic weirdos (as opposed to the dysfunctional weirdos of UC.) Good times! Hope it keeps up!
