When I was young we had a dog who would hide by sticking his head under the couch. Not the rest of him—just his head.

My cat “hides” under the bed but always leaves her tail sticking out. The lesson here is you can cover your eyes and believe the world can’t see you but your tail is always sticking out.

Domesticated animals have lost some of the survival skills that their wolf and tiger ancestors had.
