One of the mantras I’ve had to adopt recently for my own mental health is, ‘They’re not my friend, they’re _____.’ It sounds kind of grim, but it’s actually been very helpful. I throw myself into social relationships so hard, and I have to remind myself that not everyone does the same.

Made a bowl for dinner with a layered with Greek yogurt spiced with lemon zest, chili powder, garlic, onion, & herbs; crispy roasted potatoes; caramelized onions; & finally some roasted chicken boob that had been marinated in yogurt, tahini, & various herbs & spices. Pretty tasty!

Bought a 6-pack of beers from a brewery in Fort Worth, & after we got 3 beers in, discovered that 1 can was only 1/6th full. After reaching out to the brewery, since we couldn’t return the 6-pack, they told us we could drive 40 minutes each way to swap the can for another lol

This weather is doing terrible things to my hair.

My sister is being very like me, and being evasive about what she wants to her birthday. I threw out some suggestions of things I know she loves, and capped it off with, ‘You deserve a special day just for you.’ …and it kind of hit me right in the gut 🙃

I’m sorry, but a good bridge gets me every fucking time, and I am still not tired of Chappell Roan’s ‘Good Luck, Babe.’ It makes me get all emotional every damn time!

At the farmers market this morning, and our favorite pastry place has smoked brisket, jalapeño, and mac’n’cheese pastries today. They are sooooooo freakin’ good!

lol the rest of the party will be embroiled in deep scientific, philosophical, and arcane conundrums, and my rogue will be off having a spa day, sketching local art, shopping at the local markets, or weaving tales for the young’uns.

Came across a turtle in the road, and stopped to grab it and take it to the nearby creek… creek was dry, and that’s probably why it was mosey-ing 🙃 Took it on a week little field trip to a pond that feeds that creek (when water levels aren’t so low), and let it go there.
