Tonight's film is TOKYO SPECIES (2012, TOKYOスピーシーズ), a Japanese science fiction/horror film which is, as the title may suggest, a takeoff of the 1995 US film SPECIES (which, weirdly, in Japan did not stop with the 4 official installments).

This is part of the thing that makes me drag my feet on the book. It's difficult to work on book trying to examine Lovecraft's prejudices and how they influenced his fiction in detail when folks don't even want to engage with the idea beyond the common-internet-knowledge level.

My favorite response to the blog so far is: "Yeah, I want something just like that, just not written by that guy."

It's always weird to me when I see the rates on a call for submissions and realize I've paid more per-word on a guest post for the blog than some folks get paid for a 5k story.

You should check out my experimental body horror comic, Disorder. It’s 148 pages of visceral body horror about self destruction, self creation, and the horror of living in a world built upon the endless breaking of trans bodies.
