So this is happening. We found a fledgling sparrow last night fluttering but unable to lift off. Mom was around so we left her but baby was still there this morning. Rin caught her and removed some burrs that were in the way of her wings. 1/
The mom is able to hop down into the crate and feed the baby, she has continued to do that so we’re hopeful. Baby’s wings are…burnt? Tattered? on the edges and I think maybe she ran into some fireworks, got spooked, and landed in the burdocks. We’ll monitor w as little contact as possible 2/2
UPDATE lil baby has actual tar on her wings (our neighbor resealed her driveway). So we gave her a Dawn scrub and rinse and that really helped. Her legs and feet still seem weak and she needed to dry off so back in the crate. Mama continues to feed and visit 🥰
