there's a lot of discourse about if it's safe to have earbuds in while biking because you "can't hear your surroundings" but i'm gonna be honest the only thing i'm ever hearing is a constant WOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH of the wind, usually from traffic. like i actually do think i've ever Heard a car approach.
not having turn-by-turn navigation when going to a new place sucks and so does here WOOOOOOOOOOOSH for ages because that shit is loud and my hearing is sensitive. it's illegal to have earbuds in both ears in most states but i'm really not convinced it actually makes any difference in safety.
I still haven't installed my mirrors, mainly because I feel like I'd end up being a little too lazy with them
My main issue at this point is people who really consider red lights to be optional
You'd think in the city they'd get t-boned and weeded out fast. Yesterday I nearly got hit and some 20ish kid walking by yelled at *me* for assuming the truck would stop at a red light.
I wanted to tell him to give me his driver's license until he learned how to drive
Oh, I mean I bought a pair of handle mounted. It's just that in Brooklyn everything is coming at you from 360 at all times, I don't want to get in limiting habits
