I think that an insidious mistruth that is spread during Presidential elections in particular is that most of the people who do vote are planning to be engaged in other politics beyond voting on a regular basis. Pick the enemy you want to fight is belied by the fact that most won't fight that enemy.

What happens usually is that folks quickly move on to scolding the fighters for the next 4 years. "It's just the first year of the term" "you need to get them a Congress to work with" "protest in the most toothless way possible"

Protest is to tell them what you want, in the hopes that you can use a toothless method.

that's why they choose the person they choose: they don't want to have to fight and figure if it's "not as bad" then they can walk away. it's infuriating how, as a radical, it's so tough to mobilize folks during democrat presidencies.

Getting involved in primaries can be super rewarding, even at a national level, in a way “which coalition do we get?” often isn’t. We can draw a line from Castro’s supporters being willing to put in work to $144 billion in forgiven student debt. But <20% of voters are actually motivated by policy😭
