the most interesting food topic that I don't see us ask each other about enough is the flagship foods of our people that the world goes ape over but we can't stand personally.

I had Indian cuisine, made by someone that lived there and immigrated to Indiana (ha) and it used more (different) spices than I've ever seen on one dish before.
It was amazing. Every culture has good food and terrible food. Just as every culture has good people and terrible people.
Salt licorice. My people, who hurt you.
I mean, the Russians, and the Germans repeatedly, and each other, a whole heck of a lot of each other. But enough to produce this salt licorice obsession? They put it in chocolate. It's not okay.
Black licorice is great! I can even imagine thinking a tiny bit of salt would make it better. I can't understand how adding *that much salt* makes anyone like it better.
