Here’s a comics discourse for you that maybe some of us can use: Minicomics They’re usually small in size, hence the name, but they’re always small in publishing scope. You make minicomics by photocopying your comic book and then that’s it. It’s literally a zine but specifically a comics zine.

If you love manga, you should know the name Frederik L. Schodt. He struggled tirelessly and often alone in both Japan and the US to get manga seen as something more than frivolous children's entertainment. It was a cultural and economic powerhouse struggling to burst its bonds and be set free.

Gou Tanabe is the other obvious one. Because... I translate his works. Star Fruit Books is also releasing some of the greats, like Hideshi Hino.

Going through the expense of printing up your own self-published comic to sell at conventions may seem daunting, but that is exactly how MANY artists start. That's how I met Peach Momoko. Selling her own little self-published comic at a table she paid for, while everyone walked by ignoring her.

That's what we did. Although our first comic was an 8 pager.

If you are thinking about making a comic, consider that you can print 50 issues of a 24 page greyscale A4 comic on 50lb uncoated paper with a colour cover and staple binding for $165
