Hey @madisoncondon.bsky.social I found another item for you to put in the appendix of your presentation, "notable things your model omits".

Do emergency helicopters in this scenario also include - the ones that they use to put out wildfires? Asking for a friend (me).

Published specifications suggest that most helicopters have operating temperature limits around 125°F, but I expect that the weight they can carry starts to drop as they approach their limit, which reduce their value for firefighting above 120°F, which seems to be the cutoff for medical evacuation.

I can verify that the value of firefighters for firefighting also goes down as it gets hotter.

Here's my favorite -- "we'll just move north, and take our wheat with us!" Oops (cued): youtu.be/Q6rHtlmh7M4?...

Seems like kind of a big thing to miss. The economists involved (Nordhaus...or U of Chicago, surrounded by good delis for takeout) may have been sitting in an air conditioned office munching sandwiches while speculating on moving wheat fields to northern latitudes.

Yes, people have been writing about this for years. The "just move north" idea seems to have originated with the climate-change denial faction a couple of decades ago, and the lack of arable land was quickly pointed out. There are many other issues as well — the whole idea is unworkable.
