Update. Unfortunately Reform got a 5th seat: South Basildon and East Thurrock. After a long recount Reform beat Labour candidate by 98 votes.
The goodish news - Reform has only 4 seats, the same as the Greens, so the exit polls were badly wrong. The really bad news - Reform has more than 4 million votes, more than Lib Dem on 3.5 and not far behind Tories on 6.7 million and Labour on 9.6.

Bad news, but good that they got less than six as this means less short money (~£350K rather than £1m) for the votes they received.

This is an angle I haven’t seen. What’s the issue?

There’s a ceiling on the amount of ‘short money’ that opposition parties receive according to the number of votes they received if they have less than six seats.

It doesn’t seem to be widely appreciated that votes are worth money to the political parties, around 20p per year!
