As a NYer, I don’t understand the outrage over Hochul’s decision as if congestion pricing was going to fix mass transit & solve climate change. The plan was like a sales tax, not targeted at only those who could afford it, but everyone. It was in effect on weekends, when there’s no congestion.

the MTA is going to have a $15 billion deficit. pretty big deal!

The MTA is the most corrupt organization in NY. Overspending on overtime and consultants. The subway is dramatically underfunded, but they need to get their own house in order before being given more money.

I mean the $15B was laid out for use in a capital plan. Projects planned and contracts pretty much ready to start going once the money switch turns on at the end of the month. The State isn't always worthy of trust, but maybe stop talking out of your ass here.

Also MTA employees sentenced for impossible overtime scheme: www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr... So once again - why are we giving these people even more money when they can't manage what they have?

Multiple things can be true at once, especially when at the scale of providing mass transit to millions of ppl on a daily basis. Corrupt ppl have worked there. The MTA has wasted money. Congestion Pricing is a win for the vast majority of New Yorkers.

When dealing with scales like NYC (on in my case, LA) there is no “do X, then Y” Thinking like we can just pause while we try to clean up things is extremely naive, and it uses paternalistic thinking. You’re not the MTA’s mom, you don’t withhold funding on critical infrastructure

Surely nobody outclasses the NYPD in corruption?
