I kind of envy the Department for the Study of Religion. They’ve got a bunch of courses with pithy one-word titles: Love. Death. Cults. Ghosts. Could we do that in linguistics? Sounds, Words, Sentences, Meaning? My first misgiving is that “Sounds” seems to conflate phonology with phonetics.
