🖋️ “Gaza ongoing mental health crises - Permanent Ceasefire NOW” hit 100 signers!
Gaza ongoing mental health crises - Permanent Ceasefire NOWresist.bot Taha and colleagues published in The Lancet in 2024: “Constant bombardment and displacement and the loss of family members are predisposing many children to anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other adverse mental health conditions. In fact, a 2020 study showed that 53·5% of Gazan children had PTSD even before this conflict. Such conditions often go untreated due to a lack of awareness from health professionals, a shortage of mental health professionals, and Israeli restrictions on foreign aid. […] In Gaza, the prioritisation of more immediate crises—such as the acute shortage of lifesaving resources such as food, water, sanitation supplies, and electricity—intensifies the challenge of providing youth mental health interventions. This issue is compounded by relentless bombardment, leaving no area safe. The health system has collapsed, with psychiatric facilities damaged or depleted of medications, and internet disruptions prevent teletherapy access. For these reasons, addressing the Gazan youth mental health crisis requires ceasefire efforts that can promise residents basic physical safety.” President Biden continues to supply and fund Israel while knowing since October 2023 that Israel has been targeting civilians. This is continued participation in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians and a violation of Leahy Law, which prohibits our government from funding foreign forces who are implicated in gross human rights violations. International scholar and lawyer, Francesca Albanese, has documented how Israel’s gross human rights violations and war crimes are genocidal acts, including their targeting of hospitals and healthcare workers, targeting journalists and civilians, using starvation as a weapon, etc. Israeli government officials have repeatedly expressed genocidal intent. Israel is ignoring the I.C.J. ruling on May 24 to halt the offensive on Rafah. The U.S. continues to ignore the U.N. resolution on March 25 for a ceasefire. As people of conscience, we will not ignore this. I am demanding you to take immediate steps to stop Israel’s genocide of Palestinians by calling for 1) a total and permanent bilateral ceasefire, 2) humanitarian aid allowed to enter Gaza, 3) an end to Israel's siege on Gaza, 4) the release of all Palestinian and Israeli hostages, 5) no more weapons or funding to the Israeli military, 6) the reinstatement of U.N.R.W.A funding. A permanent ceasefire is an absolutely critical step to ensuring everlasting liberation and peace. The I.C.J. ruled that Israel should do everything in its power to prevent genocide. Never again means never again for anyone. Palestinians deserve to live with freedom and safety which means first stopping this genocide and then ensuring liberation from occupation and apartheid. The liberation and safety of Palestinians, Israelis, Jewish people, and Muslim people are intertwined. There can only be true safety when we are all free from oppression.

🖋️ “Demand accountability for human rights abuses in Palestine-Israel conflict” hit 100 signers!
Demand accountability for human rights abuses in Palestine-Israel conflictresist.bot As human beings, we must condemn the abhorrent practice of using civilians as human shields, which is a grave violation of international humanitarian law. The recent incident where a wounded Palestinian man, Mujahid Al-Abadi, was tied to an Israeli military vehicle and paraded through the streets is a shocking display of utter disregard for human dignity and rights. Such acts of cruelty and dehumanization have no place in a civilized society. We urge an immediate cessation of military aid and funding to Israel until concrete steps are taken to hold accountable those responsible for such egregious human rights abuses. The Israeli government must demonstrate a genuine commitment to upholding the principles of human rights and international law. Continued impunity for these atrocities only emboldens further violations and undermines the pursuit of a just and lasting peace. It is our moral imperative to stand firm against such blatant violations of human rights, irrespective of the perpetrators or victims involved. We call upon all people of conscience to raise their voices and demand accountability, justice, and an end to the oppression and subjugation of the Palestinian people. Only through principled and unwavering solidarity can we hope to create a world where human dignity is respected and protected for all.

🖋️ “NUSEIRAT REFUGEE CAMP SCHOOL BOMBED, HOSPITAL OVERRUN WITH CHILD CASUALTIES” hit 500 signers!
NUSEIRAT REFUGEE CAMP SCHOOL BOMBED, HOSPITAL OVERRUN WITH CHILD CASUALTIESresist.bot Another day, another war crime and massacre. While not surprising, I never cease to be disgusted, horrified, and heartbroken. Today, 7/7, Israel targeted another school housing displaced people in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Casualties have completely overwhelmed the already strained Al-Aqsa Hospital, most of which are children. The casualty count keeps rising. As I'm writing this, 16 dead and 50 wounded. People are still arriving at the hospital. The full scope of this massacre won't be fully known for some time. Dr. Yousaf, a pediatrician at Al-Aqsa Hospital, advised that the system is already totally overwhelmed from the repeated targeted destruction of the entire healthcare system. He said every hospital left is in a state of chaos. Every hour people are being brought in with severe injuries - shrapnel, blown off limbs, abdominal wounds so severe from the bombs Dr. Yousaf described it as "eviscerated". Dr. Yousaf describes the unimaginable psychological trauma both patients and medical staff experience every single moment. For medical staff who live in Gaza, every major massacre they ask "Where was the bombing?" They look in the faces of the incoming injured and dead to see if it was a family member or friend this time. For many medical staff since 10/7, it often is. The doctor was asked about the conditions of children specifically, and his voice notably shook as he recounted how yesterday after another Israeli school bombing, the influx of children with traumatic injuries brought into the resuscitation room was overwhelming - both in the medical staff's ability to provide care with scarce resources, and in the psychological torment of seeing children with these extreme injuries. Dr. Yousaf described some of the injuries those children came in with- one with a depressed skull fracture requiring intubation, one with a shrapnel wound so severe he could see an exposed kidney and transected spinal cord, and countless others with wounds not requiring surgery but clearly showing signs of severe psychological trauma and malnutrition. I demand that you:  – Hold Israel accountable for a permanent, immediate ceasefire, their violations of the Genocide Convention, and gross human rights violations by any means necessary – Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace – Secure the immediate release and safety of all Palestinians who have been abducted and held captive by Israel, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7 – Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce Leahy Law – Reallocate all funds given to Israel and commit additional resources for ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians starting with immediately resuming funding of UNRWA

ISRAEL CONTINUES UNPRECEDENTED MASSACRE OF JOURNALISTS WITH YOUR SUPPORTresist.bot In the past 24 hours, Israel has murdered 5 journalists in Gaza. Today 7/6, marks another increase in the record breaking number of journalists murdered in any other conflict zone in the world since the CPJ began keeping track. In the first 10 weeks alone of Israel's genocide more journalists (77) were murdered than in any single country over an entire year period. In comparison, 68 total journalists were killed in 2022 across the entire world. News reporting from conflict zones has always been dangerous, but the risks brave journalists take in Gaza is unlike anything seen before. Israel's intentional targeting of journalists for death, injury, detainment, censorship, or even cyber attacks is unparalleled. As of 7/6, the CPJ has documented 51 arrests of journalists - 36 of which are still in Israeli military prisons in dire conditions. The reign of terror against journalists hasn't been confined to the besieged Gaza strip - journalists throughout occupied Palestine face Israel's systematic abuse. Journalists in the West Bank are "facing unprecedented threats, assaults, and intimidation to obstruct their vital work covering this conflict," says CPJ’s Middle East and North Africa program coordinator. Cyberattacks against news outlets reporting in Gaza since 10/7 have escalated to never before seen levels, all the way from the agency-level like the 11/11 attack on the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate's website, to individual journalists like Plestia Alaqad, whose Instagram has been a frequent target for hackers. Censorship of news reporting in Gaza has taken a myriad of forms from "unofficial" means previously described, to official laws passed by Israel to block news outlets like Al Jazeera and any other outlet deemed to pose "a threat". This administration has followed suit in censorship, from direct threats to news agencies like Reuters, CNN, and the New York Times late December 2023, to the House of Representatives voting to bar the State Department from citing official death tolls published by Gaza's Ministry of Health. Journalists are not a target. The freedom of the press is supposed to be one of the unshakeable pillars of our democracy. Unfortunately, none of this comes as a surprise anymore. After the Supreme Court's recent disturbing ruling making the president above our laws, this administration and every following one has been given carte blanche for all crimes. I demand that you:  – Hold Israel accountable for a permanent, immediate ceasefire, their violations of the Genocide Convention, and gross human rights violations by any means necessary – Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace – Secure the immediate release and safety of all Palestinians who have been abducted and held captive by Israel, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7

🖋️ “Palestinians deserve life and health - Permanent Ceasefire NOW” hit 50 signers!
Palestinians deserve life and health - Permanent Ceasefire NOWresist.bot As of July 2, 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that dangerous skin diseases were spreading among children in Gaza, including: 96,417 cases of scabies and lice, 9,274 cases of chickenpox, 60,130 cases of skin rashes, and 10,038 cases of impetigo.  President Biden continues to supply and fund Israel while knowing since October 2023 that Israel has been targeting civilians. Sites of learning, culture, and historical memory — universities, mosques, churches, museums — have been decimated. The Gaza Strip's ability to produce food and clean water has been severely destroyed by Israeli airstrikes and bulldozers which have razed farms and orchards. People have unearthed mass graves with evidence of torture. Israel is ignoring the I.C.J. ruling on May 24 to halt the offensive on Rafah. The U.S. stands alone in vetoing Palestine’s request for U.N. membership. The U.S. continues to ignore the U.N. resolution on March 25 for a ceasefire.

🖋️ “ISRAEL CONTINUES TO BOMB SCHOOLS HOUSING REFUGEES” hit 500 signers!
ISRAEL CONTINUES TO BOMB SCHOOLS HOUSING REFUGEESresist.bot Today, 7/5, Israel bombed the Freedom School in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City housing displaced people. How many more times do we need to witness the brutal attacks on schools, hospitals, refugee camps, and other civilian places? It's never been just Palestinians in Gaza facing Israel's barbarism. In the West Bank the town of Beit Fajar, near Bethlehem, was raided. Israeli forces positioned themselves at the local medical clinic. Khan Younis has been bombarded and destroyed to such an extent that sewage freely flows in what's left of the streets. People are forced to live in close proximity to this dangerous health risk because there is no where else for them to go. Photos and video show parts of the street it is impossible to cross without walking through sewage. Nowhere is safe in Gaza - whether that be from Israeli bombs or environmental health disasters caused by prior bombardment. This is the same city housing one of the only remaining large hospitals still partially functional, the Nasser Hospital, even after the brutal Israeli siege earlier this year. The Nasser Hospital is completely overwhelmed by mass casualties and displaced people seeking refugee. A severe shortage of medical supplies means all patients are suffering and will continue to if nothing changes. This administration could be that change. I am disgusted by your unwillingness to do anything to hold Israel accountable. I demand that you:  – Hold Israel accountable for a permanent, immediate ceasefire, their violations of the Genocide Convention, and gross human rights violations by any means necessary – Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace – Secure the immediate release and safety of all Palestinians who have been abducted and held captive by Israel, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7 – Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce Leahy Law – Reallocate all funds given to Israel and commit additional resources for ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians starting with immediately resuming funding of UNRWA – Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict – Pass legislation that voids all anti-BDS laws at the federal level – Vote no on H.R. 7521 and any similar legislation proposed

Stop Hate - Permanent Ceasefire NOWresist.bot Israel’s genocide of Palestinians — without regard for distinguishing between combatants and civilians — and destruction and occupation of Palestine contributes to the continued dehumanization of Palestinians, as well as anti-Palestinian, anti Arab, and Islamophobic rhetoric. This has led to a rise in anti Palestinian attacks in the U.S., including six year old Palestinian boy Wadea who was stabbed to death by his neighbor and a three year old Palestinian girl who was almost drowned to death by a woman in the same apartment complex. Additionally, rhetoric that conflates Judaism and Jewish people with the government of Israel has contributed to a rise in antisemitism. It is imperative that people are not viewed as their governments. It is imperative that the U.S. recognizes the difference between criticizing a government’s violent actions — and the desire to protect everyone’s humanity — from hatred toward an ethnoreligious group. 🖋️ “NASSER HOSPITAL AT RISK FOR SHUTDOWN - HOLD ISRAEL ACCOUNTABLE NOW” hit 1,000 signers!
NASSER HOSPITAL AT RISK FOR SHUTDOWN - HOLD ISRAEL ACCOUNTABLE NOWresist.bot Since 10/7, there has been no holiday I have been able to enjoy as Israel's barbaric genocide continues completely unimpeded. This Independence Day, while many in our country celebrate, Palestinians in Gaza are being deprived of the minimal health care services that were operational. The only main hospital left, the Nasser Hospital, is at imminent risk of shut down due to lack of fuel for the generators. Some departments have already had to cease operations to try and conserve the power for the ICU and NICU wards. Nasser Hospital has been over capacity for months, but with the recent evacuees from the European Hospital who could make it have only added to the straining of resources. Two days ago Israel demanded over 400 patients receiving care at the European Hospital evacuate due to an imminent invasion and attack. Most of these patients are children who've recently undergone amputations. They cannot walk. Per the NGO Imaan, with medics on the ground, no ambulances were available to assist. Moving critical patients is risky even in the best of circumstances without active warfare, but for many who've been forcibly moved around and around since 10/7, it's been deadly. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said of the fate of those at the European Hospital, “People are left with the impossible choice of having to relocate, some most likely for the second or third time, to areas that have barely any spaces or services, or staying in areas where they know heavy fighting will take place." For those who were able to leave, videos and photos show patients being pushed in their wheeled hospital beds outside down the street because this was their only option. The fate of those sheltering at the Nasser Hospital hang in the balance. Earlier today a targeted Israeli airstrike leveled a 5-story building near the hospital. Unfortunately, this isn't the only massacre near the hospital today. Israeli forces also bombed a UN school housing displaced people. Videos of the aftermath are chilling. This pattern of attack is more than familiar by now. Days ago over 250,000 people were ordered to evacuate to this area. Then, Israel intensifies its assault on the area people were "evacuated" to. This 4th of July I cannot celebrate the day of freedom for our country. As Nelson Mandela said, "our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.” Free Palestine.
