We're a week out from Oct so I'm obligated to post everyone's fav medieval bat. It's easy to see why this little guy has won my bat poll every year BUT did you know this ms page also includes a practice-bat? The sketch is adorable, too 🦇 British Library Harley MS 3244, fol 55v

On 20 September 1486, in St Swithun's Priory, Winchester, Elizabeth of York gave birth to a child who, it was hoped, would herald the dawning of a new golden age of peace and prosperity for England. By his father Henry VII, the boy was christened Arthur.

I finally got to see this very old cat door 🐈‍⬛ According to Exeter Cathedral, the cat door was cut for the Bishop's cat to catch mice, between 1598 & 1621 🚪 Records show that a cat was paid 1d per week in food when on mouse/rat catching duties 🐀

Like many of us, I’ve migrated here from The Other Place. I am VERY relieved to see that this is essentially The Other Place circa 2012. I was worried I’d have to learn a whole new social media site 😅 very happy that that is not the case!
End of feed.
