Elementary is so much better than the semi-recent prestige Holmes show that shall not be named
When I started watching Elementary I was hoping for some nice low effort network procedural with a couple of pretty good actors and I was not expecting an extremely sympathetic and nuanced portrayal of recovery and addiction

By the end it was my favorite adaptation of any of them. Really good show

Granada is #1 imo but elementary is definitely the best recent adaptation

The Rupert Everett one-off was surprisingly good.
The Granada adaptation is also a delight.

It is probably the best cop show of any kind in the latter half of the 2010s, and it is not close.

Elementary was surprisingly good, and the “traditional” network format (22-episode seasons!) gave the characters room to breathe and show their quirks and flaws. Still quite binge-able when my partner and I powered through it in 2022.

What is your beef with Sherlock?!?
Elementary is great.

It's so good! I'm less enthusiastic about the depiction of Internal Affairs as bad cops when literally every other episode features police as bad guys… and season 3 really needs a boatload of trigger warnings… but it's very good!
