When I started watching Elementary I was hoping for some nice low effort network procedural with a couple of pretty good actors and I was not expecting an extremely sympathetic and nuanced portrayal of recovery and addiction
Elementary was surprisingly good, and the “traditional” network format (22-episode seasons!) gave the characters room to breathe and show their quirks and flaws. Still quite binge-able when my partner and I powered through it in 2022.
It's so good!
I'm less enthusiastic about the depiction of Internal Affairs as bad cops when literally every other episode features police as bad guys… and season 3 really needs a boatload of trigger warnings… but it's very good!
