1/ 55 years ago today, I was born at Yale University hospital. It was the middle of the Vietnam War. My father was Lt. Commander at the New London Navy base, serving as a pediatrician. Once week, my mother brought to my first protests to hear the reading of the names of the troops killed in action.
2/ They held me up to watch the moon landing two weeks later. By the time Watergate drove Nixon from office, I was watching the hearings (and mad Sesame Street was pre-empted).
In the decades since then, some things have gotten much better. Many things have vacillated. Some things have steadily .
3/ . . . gotten worse.
Personally, I survived the alienation of my teenage years and Stage 3 colon cancer when I was 49.
I have the great joy of being married to the love of my life and the father to an incredible 21-year old daughter.
When I did not have the strength to fend for myself, . . .
4/ I have been carried by the strength of family, friends and strangers. I have done my best to give back, but I know I have received far more than I have given.
Today, many things seem bleak in the political world of the United States. We will see how things turn out. The only thing I know . . .
5/ . . . *for certain* about the future is that it has not happened yet.
For the next months, everyday I will do my best to contribute to the preservation of our Republic by working for the defeat of FPOTUS and his fascist enablers. That means, in every constituency, working for the candidate . .
6/6. . . most likely to beat the fascists, EVEN IF there is another candidate who comes closer to my ideological preferences.
