Last year I self published a children’s book that I wrote and illustrated inspired by my childhood. Today is the “in real life” Nanny’s birthday! 🎉🥳
I’m so thankful that they’re still here today and that I was able to gift them a book inspired by my childhood with them.
Hey kidlit illustrators, I’d like to gift a free, one-hour, portfolio-review/coaching-session.
1) reply with a sample of your art.
2) repost this message.
I’ll pick a winner at random from those who do both. Win or lose, I’ll take a close look at every reply.
💙❤️
I’ve been working on a fun passion project and this is by far one of my favourite characters. I typically draw human characters but decided to try something new. ✏️
Last year I had time to create lots of passion projects, add more to my portfolio and be very present online. This year I want to be more present irl and do a lot of cold-emailing.
I try to remind myself that I need to reach out for opportunities and keep putting myself & my work out there.

Every year I create Christmas cards to send to friends and family. This year I decided to re-use the illustration I had made for the month of December in my calendar!
In 2023, I didn’t have many clients. However, I still created a lot of fun projects and added more artworks to my portfolio.
I can’t wait to see what 2024 has waiting for me 🫶🏻
We drove the big 8h to see my family after Christmas this year and it feels so good to be back, catching up, playing cards. It’s the first time I see family again for the holidays since Covid. 😭
I spent the weekend in NYC and visited this lovely bookshop I’ve wanted to see for a while now. It was all kinds of special.
I manifested that one day I would have some of my books here and also create a window display. 💛
December has been so busy for me that I completely forgot to share my KidLit Postcard over here 😭 So here it is!
Hi! My name is Josée and I’m a French-Canadian author/illustrator currently available and looking for work in PB, activity books, board books, you name it.

A rainy day jumping in puddles. 🌈☔️
I’ve been very wrapped up with my calendars these last couple weeks & everyday goes by so fast but I’ve been enjoying it. I’m so proud of the work I’ve done with this project and I don’t take enough time to appreciate my work. 🥹
Anyways, hope you had a good wkd!
How many cats can you count? 🐱
This illustration was created for my 2024 calendar for the month of September and I don’t think I’ve ever drawn this many cats before.
I’ve been having so much fun with this 2024 calendar I’ve decided to make this year. Such a great series of illustrations that im very proud of. 🥹
The calendar itself also looks great! The colours are amaziiiing.
A day in the art studio with your pet reptile. 🦎 What better inspiration for a painting?
This is the January illustration for my calendar that’s currently available for preorders.

Hey #kidlitpostcard day 👋🏻
My name is Josée Lavoie and I’m an author-illustrator based in Canada. I enjoy using bright colours to create fun, silly and inclusive illustrations.
I’m also currently available for work + looking for representation.
I made my first ever calendar and it’s gonna be such a great series of new artwork. The theme is people + pets 🥹 The calendar is up for pre-orders right now and I can’t wait to show you more!!
It was a dark Halloween night. The streetlights were shining on all the children dressed in fun and spooky costumes. There was an astronaut, a cow and a prince. All three of them were on a mission tonight. To collect the most amount of candy in town.
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🍭
I wanted to try myself at doing other types of illustrations like editorial work. Although I do a lot of everything with my full-time job, this was a fun quick challenge to do in my free time. I took a real text from LaPresse about a huge pumpkin beating a world record. 🎃
This year I’ve opened my commissions for the very first time and I’ve been enjoying it so much! Although I don’t get many orders, I do appreciate every single one of them. This is my biggest commission by far. ✏️
I can’t not share this cute pink witch DTIYS challenge I did and posted on the good old IG. I can’t seem to find the original illustrator on here but the challenge was created by the wonderful Abbey Bryant @ maddyabbs on IG. 🖍️
I don’t think this mummy will ever lack toilet paper. 🧻 Made for today’s #Stinktober23 prompt, Poop! 💩 Thanks @studiohoffmann.bsky.social for the fun and stinky art challenge.
Sometimes I like adding free colouring pages to my website. Here’s my new Halloween trick or treating illustration! There’s nothing better than seeing what the little ones (and older ones) create. 🖍️
