I think this is paradoxically cause for hope too. We became better than this, and nothing about a regression, even a catastrophic one, closes the door to becoming better again.
For most of its history, America hasn’t been a democracy, by any meaningful definition of the term!
This isn’t some It Can’t Happen Here shit, in a way, it’s already happened. It just may not have directly affected you.
I know there’s a very real threat of not having free and fair elections after this. But people organizing in the Jim Crow South already didn’t have those and they still did the work.
Absolutely right. If Trump wins it’s going to be a gut punch like I’ve never experienced before followed by who knows how long of just how bad.
But I’m also going to buck myself up and look for ways to resist his regime & look ahead to the day we defeat him & the MAGA fascism he’s unleashed.
