I've known necromones were a thing since the first time I killed an ant and noticed the smell. I just didn't know it had a name until recently. Now I want to work "necromone" randomly in conversations. Either that or start a black metal band with that name.
My Top 5 Beatles songs:
Something
Baby's In Black
I Don't Want To Spoil The Party
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey
Hey my friends (meaning mutuals 😉)!
I need to ask a favor of you. If you know of, or see any musicians around here, send them my way or let me know of them!
You don't need to cross-check the lists, I can do that in seconds anyway.
Thanks a bunch, folks! 👍
Was driving 7+ hours today scanning the Sirius stations and the Pearl Jam channel was playing a live version of "Alive" I thought how many versions of this song do they need? Then I remembered I have approximately 74 versions of Jaco playing Teen Town
It's Huey Lewis' birthday. I remember an interview where they asked him if he felt he wasn't as successful now. His response was all they ever dreamed of was being able to make a living playing music in clubs & they still get to do that, so all the arena stuff was just a bonus. Such a great attitude
A lot of people claim to know what the Beatles meant with "Jai guru deva" in Across The Universe, but I haven't found any online dictionary or translation verify it. But I do remember as a kid, putting it on my dad's 4 channel reel to reel, running it backwards & clearly hearing "Love is good hash"
I listened to two Santana songs in a row on YouTube and all of my ads switched to Spanish. That's not a joke, it really just happened. And only Oye Como Va contained any Spanish in it.
I wonder if I watch Def Leppard's Rock of Ages intro twice if I'll start getting German ads
When I listen to 70s and earlier music and movies, I have to remind myself that the music I hear is all real people. Strings, horns, random odd percussion, and even the Foley artists behind the scenes making all those sounds. Sometimes full orchestras for 30 seconds of a song.
Am I the only one that finds the "AI" editing of videos extremely annoying? The apps that make cuts during all pauses and the other that always pans to put the person's head in the exact center of the screen. There are some people I've quit watching because it's so distracting and unnatural
Microsoft wants me to use their AI. This is the same Microsoft that makes Outlook, which I have to go into daily to move spam out of my Inbox and the stuff I actually want out of the Junk Folder. Every. Single. Day.
40% of Yahoo articles:
"I work at (someplace we all go) and here is why you should stop (something we all do) immediately and go (some obscure, hard to get to place, that only has two locations, and is ridiculously expensive) instead"
Bought a Google Play card and there was a warning about being coerced by someone into buying it and giving it to them. I don't know if that applies to tweens living in your house that call you "dad" and say that they just HAVE to have this new game update, it's the best update ever (until next week)
Saw the video for that California song by Phantom Planet and didn't know that Jason Schwartzman was their (or anyone else's) drummer. When I looked it up to see if it was really him, I also learned he's Francis Ford Coppola's nephew and Nicholas Cage's cousin. I feel so out of touch
One thing I wish Bluesky could do is turn off reposts for individual accounts. Some people repost music/arts stuff, which I enjoying seeing. Others repost lots of stuff from the news that I come to Bluesky to escape from. It would be nice to still get their content, without the reposts
