Speaking as college faculty...no.
Rather, it is precisely **because** college students are forming strong bonds of community, interaction, and care that all of this is even possible.
It's much of the rest of the US that's forgotten how to do that, and so looks on in terror.
These ghouls are so devoid of empathy they can’t even fathom the concept of “I care about other people” and "This is not the world we want to live in."
The ruling class cannot fathom anything that isn’t a résumé builder or budget line item. They have no ethical imagination, no vision, and no hope.
You nailed it. The right wants us to cast aside our empathy like they have. Protests, marches, unions, petitions, etc, all show groups getting together to talk and work for progress.
I challenge you to convince me the right isn’t worse. Not a single one on the right cares about these young people. I know where the change can happen. It’s with the left leading.
It boggles my mind. They literally can't understand, "I don't think refugees should be shot while trying to reach an aid truck, and ambulances shouldn't be bombed." As a reason for action.
and yet you know a disheartening number of them, during the 2016 or even 2020 election, probably posted at least one variation on the statement, “wonder what you would’ve done during WWII/the civil rights movement? you’re doing it right now.”
I don’t at all think they don’t understand.
I think this is all desperate propaganda.
Remember that the news media’s job is not to report happenings, it is to manipulate perception to manufacture consent.
They are scared, not stupid.
The ghouls literally run twitter x. Slugging it out with the trolls, bots, screaming click bait scam and influence ops on the platform (where they are amplified) is exactly like fighting fire with fire.
