Because folks DIDN'T vote for the lesser of two evils, mate. Shockingly, elections have consequences for many years after they happen. 2020 didn't mean that the 3 SC seats Trump got to fill because of 2016 magically evaporated.
One has to make some pretty extreme leaps in logic when what one desperately wants to explain how they're totally not a Trump supporter while doing everything in their limited power to elect Trump.
