Someone came up with a rationale to prevent trans girls from transitioning and Tumblr/Reddit trans folk just ran with it.
I always guessed it came as a response to one of the main bits of TERF bullshit - the whole ‘transing others’ thing.
One thing to always remember is that the prime directive in Star Trek was broken plenty of times, and there was almost always a positive outcome.
Besides, if there is a problem or something wrong in your life - and that could be anything, not just related to gender - then better to know and deal with it sooner rather than later.
