Happy emancipation day everyone!
The population of the United States was 33 million, and there were 4 million slaves at the time of emancipation. We have certainly had some low points in our history, and emancipation is worth celebrating in a big way.
I can't believe this only became a national holiday 3 years ago, and I'd only heard of it for the first time about 10 years ago.
If there's anything worth celebration as a nation, it's the one big step emancipation made toward a more perfect union.
