I don’t know how much more obvious it has to be that Hamas wants these kinds of casualties and is baiting Israel. This all serves their ends.
The goal is to isolate and devastate Israel politically. Israel’s government, apparently, is happy to oblige as long as the blood keeps flowing.
The tacit reciprocity between Hamas and the Israeli far-right is absolutely something that goes unnoticed by way too many people.
Though regarding the screenshot, by this point statements that begin with "The IDF says" should probably be taken with a whole pincher of salt.
I don't think Israel needs to be "baited" into committing war crimes. They've been doing it for 76 years. And while provoking reprisals against civilians has been a pillar of the guerrilla playbook for ages, Israel's isolation was inevitable and entirely self-inflicted. Oct 7th only accelerated it.
