I am going to clear out my office and hand back my laptop and keys tomorrow and hopefully after that I will feel better than I do now. I’m still kind of in shock about having both the best and worst job season, being the most and - apparently least - competitive I have ever been.

I lost my denim jacket at the CCC (having spent a while looking for it on Friday morning). The jacket itself is meh, but I lost my Arts Emergency pin, and all the pins I bought at separate visits to the Akropolis Museum. So I’m going to make a new jacket but I’m still sad.

It’s super weird thinking I’m on the last leg of my tour.

Since I arrived in Wales (a place I genuinely love!) I have been HOUNDED by ABBA’s Waterloo.

On the way to Cathays for the first day of our panel at the CCC - Theoretical Approaches to Ancient Greek Religion - organised by Ben Cassel and Susan Deacy. I will, obviously, be talking about the Parthenon Frieze because these days I only talk about that or Brauron.

Do you know what would be good for my mental and physical well being? Stable employment. Particularly galling that this week features “how to make change work for you”. This post brought to you by the weekly ‘Mind Tools’ email my current employer sends me.

The Parthenon Frieze skirt is done enough that the last few bits of hand stitching can be completed on the train. And thus: this coming Wednesday you, should you be in Cardiff, will have the opportunity to see me present on the Parthenon’s Ionic Frieze wearing the same. #ClassicsBluesky

But look how schmick it turns out when I do have the confidence and do it the way that works for me.

Sometimes I am confident enough to not follow the instructions and do things the way I know works best for me, and sometimes I am not and it goes badly. This is a post about sewing invisible zips but it’s also a post about being Autistic.

Today’s thoughts: the instructions don’t say to understitch this. Should I understitch it anyway? Yes. Yes of course I should understitch it anyway.

Should I be working on my CCC paper? Yes. Am I making a thematically appropriate skirt to wear while delivering my CCC paper? Also yes.

The biggest problem I have with my deep desire to run away and open a cat cafe is that I have the perfect name for a cat cafe in my local area, which means… no running away. But maybe cats?

Well this is grim

Sdenothemis and Hegestratos did it first.

It feels a lot like America is a bride who has been planning the perfect wedding for ages and ages and they’ve been engaged for years and we have just come in with a whirlwind proposal and wedding and are now cracking on with life. This is a post about elections.

I get it but it really sucks that UCEA pay offer updates come at a time when so many people are facing imminent unemployment. In other news I haven’t finished my CCC paper because all the time I should have been working on it I have spent on job applications, interview preparation, and rejection.
