not an original opinion but I hate how cinemasins and the like have fundamentally broken how people engage with media

god it’s so boring. it’s just shallow rage

sometimes things don’t make logical sense but they make emotional sense and that’s way more important

I used to love watching cinemasins but I always thought it was meant as a joke or just a silly video not to be taken serious or as actual criticism

I was so young, so innocent

I think the way they frame criticism/being critical as equivalent to critical analysis is one of my least favorite things to emerge from the ilk.

My biggest gripe with CinemaSins is that it isn’t truly critique. It’s sarcasm and nitpicking wrapped in “jokes.” In one breath, they say they’re not supposed to be taken seriously. While in the next, they consider themselves some of the best movie critics on YouTube. He also sucks as a person.
