It kills me to say it but: John Wick. I kept watching & liking them (I'm particularly fond of "John Wick 2: This Is (Not) My Vampire The Masquerade Fan Film") but the implied hidden world of the first movie was SO much more interesting than the… everything that came later.

the scene in (I think) the 3rd film where assassins are fighting in an airport and none of the civilians seem to notice really bothered me

My dumb headcanon: there ARE no civilians, it's all kayfabe.
