Normally I'd scrounge something at Goodwill, but I didn't want to break up a latch hook kit that someone else could use.

Timeline cleanse. #ThriftFinds Originally from Cost Plus World Market, this tiered box in carved wood. Needs clasp & hinge repair, some sanding. Think I'll keep it for art room. For now.

#ThriftFinds This poor old wood bowl is getting refinished, after woodburning & repainting. $5.49 from Goodwill. Will resell.

#ThriftFinds Because I need a timeline cleanse. $15 got these *three* cotton curtain panels, each with a lot of 6-inch-wixe cotton lace.

#ThriftFinds Worth a few tears. The fat quarters bagged up here all came from a fabulous Phoenix quilting store called 3 Dudes Quilting. It closed a few years ago after one of the dudes died. They had amazing printed cottons.

Thinking about adapting this stencil design into paper stickers to put on the bottom of Uline boxes.

1/ Today's #ThriftFinds I'm buying travel clothing. This large denim chambray tunic is great...except for the psychotic beadwork on the front. It's as if the designer making it (I do not blame the actual embroider) started with iridescent blue acetate sequins & some glass beads. Then said 'fuckall'.

2/ Same with the collar lining on this large comfy Capacity shirt. Great embroidery, boring collar. I'll replace it with the equally soft but visually great Donna Morgan striped fabric at lower left, & and decorate the lapels & cuffs with embroidery.

Lookit this child. I think she nailed the Kubrick Stare fairly well. (18 year old me should have been issued with warning labels.) Time for passport, round 3.

Note to past-self from future-selfb Hey, hotshot, please sew seam binding on your needlepoint canvases *before* you start sewing. Otherwise we have to stop & do this.

Don't know exactly what I'll do with these little green needlepoint rectangles, once they're filled & edged with cream floss. They'll get inlaid into fabric applique, probably books. A way to use this 8x9" scrap canvas from a Goodwill kit I grabbed for the thread.

Sometimes when there is too much desperate noise in the world, I selfishly just *stop* and look at something lovely for a while. Like this cloisonne pendant. Pierced copper, same design on both sides, hand enameled, polished, and plated in gold. Probably Chinese tourist trade, but gorgeous.

1/ Holy shit, #ThriftFinds. Star of the show, a size 16 Christina Wu style 15500 ivory/blushpink dress that was at least $1000 new ($12 at Goodwill, put on floor July 2). Donated because of some missing beads on bodice. So big it had to leave Goodwill in a large garbage bag. This dress is weird.

I have no patriotic red, white, & blue shirts to wear, anymore. I don't want to be mistaken for a MAGA. I have a necklace. I made it the day after 9-11-2011. I wear it now on election days & July 4th. With a blue shirt.

12/ I've used older AI predictive art programs for years (Painter) to sketches layouts, colorways, & aspects. They are no substitute for my real-media work. I used a modern AI program for this sketch, but the finished embroidery will be denser &and different. AI is too costly to support now.

1/ This 9x9 inch square needlepoint canvas was part of a Sunset kit circa 2000 found at Goodwill. I grabbed it for the orange, red, & yellow thread. Closer look: the canvas is cotton, with interlocking mesh. That isn't cheap. So I've gridded it into mini rectangles & will paint landscapes on them.

The Goodwill that never fails #ThriftFinds has not failed again. 2 pieces of fancy glass to clean & resell. A cotton work shirt. Cotton/rayon multicolor print of tiny triangles on navy blue (to go with a glass millefiore project). And a whole dress made of this India gold & hot pink silk jacquard.

#ThriftFinds In the US at least, Goodwill is starting to roll out its Halloween stuff. Amid the usual crap one can find exquisite ethnic costumes & high end jewelry. Also: 4 of these gaudy tiebacks tassels. I have no interest in the ropes unless they test as silk. The mini tassels are useful.

The ancient, unloved 'Home Sweet Home' cross stitch from Goodwill has been filled out with needlepoint, washed, and blocked. I'll iron on stabilizer interfacing & *cut it up* to applique onto my 3 'Prosperity Predators' fiber art books. Some of the text will go into a different trans-friendly book.

Tools of my trade: this white, green, and red cloisonne hinged locket (bought years ago at Goodwill) is going on a bracelet with glass and porcelain beads. The leftover red cord will turn into a beaded tassel. This will hold purified beeswax for my sewing kit.

These spectacular cross stitch on linen panels ($1.49 Goodwill) will go into a new fabric needle book specifically for Stitching Adventure.

Look at these stems! Roots! I want to freshen them up, get them established in pots, and then snort them.

#ThriftFinds A weird fun find. Stuffed in a bag: a damaged Asian calligraphy brush in bone and agate saucer beads. This was never made to be actually used (water based PVA glue holding everything together). I can use the bone cap, and maybe save the hair brush. The 1" agate beads caught my eye.

Tiny aventurine round beads, and 1-inch long cloisonne beads.

I don't love the buttons: maybe mother of pearl with cheap metal frames (will test for silver, just in case). I have better buttons.
