American men’s basketball needs a promotion and relegation pyramid like global club football, and we’re just subsidizing billionaires and getting worse entertainment by not doing so
Let me blow up your timeline by fervently agreeing…give me second division teams fighting for promotion in cities like Seattle, Vegas, Louisville, Kansas City, Baltimore, Austin, St Louis and on and on
You are not wrong, but unfortunately it will never happen. MLS would be the perfect league for relegation because of the wealth of talent in USL and a (short) history of those teams playing hard against MLS competition.
The franchise model and the owners who have invested will never allow it
